favourite.

This is my favourite outfit...ever.

Photobucket

shirt- vintage
shorts - topshop
tights - primark
shoes - new look

I know it's not "cool" to like Topshop any more, but they make some damn gorgeous clothes so it's hard not to. These shorts are so perfect- the floral pattern is so lovely, they make every outfit better and the poofiness makes me happy. And the colours are just beautifully perfect!! So I can't hate. Sorry.
I love this shirt as well, it's technically my mum's from the vintage fair a while back and I absolutely love it, cord is my new favourite fabric (sorry velvet, your a close second!) - hopefully showing you my new cord shorts soon as well since they are lush.

Oh, and I know in all my outfits lately I've been wearing these heels which is a bit of a lie since with all of them I actually wore grey ballet flats. However, these are my new year's eve shoes and I can only just walk in them (I'm a bit of a heels virgin) so I've been wearing them around the house constantly to try and prepare myself and can't quite be bothered to change back just for pictures - sorry! They are really nice, though, I love wedges (and cheap new look shoes).

Not sure when I will be able to post again since I can't find any batteries for my camera and it's completely dead. All I'll be doing today is relaxing and getting ready and all I'll be doing tomorrow will be feeling dead. On Sunday I think I'm going to London for shopping though, so hopefully a nice outfit then - I'll try not to wear these shorts again but I think I might have to! I'll try and mix them up a bit and not wear my other blue shirt like I was planning to...

Finally, happy new year everyone! I hope you all have a great one, and hopefully it will be a great one for the blog, too.

because big jumpers are a reason for living

Photobucket
jumper - vintage lyle & scott (via my brother)
skirt - h&m
shoes - new look

Again, big bright jumper. I should probably take some outfit picture soon, I actually like what I'm wearing - especially my new floral poofy shorts! They are so gorgeous, a good sale find since I'd actually wanted them way back in the beginning of Autumn but completely forgot, I even featured them in my Autumn polyvore. I got a few other things in the sales, but not much yet. As everyone's said, they're a bit rubbish. I found some shorts in the New Look one as well, but only after finding them online first - New Look sales are painful unless you have planned ahead.
I'll try and get an outfit up tomorrow, then maybe some new year's pictures (if they are...decent)!

hello again

It has been along time since I last posted, but thinking back that actually makes me kind of proud. A couple of months ago posting twice in a week would be an achievement and now it calls for a  "sorry I haven't been blogging" post. Obviously the reason I haven't been posting is that it was Christmas and I was with my family - I meant to do a post on Christmas Eve before I left for my grandparent's house but present wrapping took over, sorry! I've seen a few bloggers saying how "they hate bloggers that don't post around the holidays" and that made me really angry. For me, Christmas is a time to spend with my family and friends, and I'm sorry if that means more to me than blogging but it does.
Photobucket
jumper - vintage
skirt - h&m
shoes - new look

I wore this to go to the cinema with my brother (loved The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, btw) - I know the jumper isn't very "flattering" but I love it and it's cosy so I will wear it. I have another post lined up and my second batch of sale shopping today so expect lots more posts!

hello beautiful(s)

Photobucket
1. Socks from santa last year, trying to defrost my feet after insisting on walking through the snow in ballet flats. Again. I haven't had "dainty" shoes in a while so it's exciting for me to wear them, even when it is ridiculously impractical.
2. Messy clothes rail. Actually like how things look when they're untidy, sadly this means I neglect my  room I can rarely open the door.

Basically, what I wanted to say is a huge thank you for all the comments I've got lately, it means so much to me. I've really been putting a lot of effort into the blog lately and just posting what I feel and it's so nice to get a response. I really feel that it's finally more "me", I'm not trying to be someone I'm not any more. I spent a while imitating other blogs and wishing I could be as good as them, now I'm happy just doing what I want. I'm also happy that some people seem to like it.

I took some outfit pictures today but I'm not sure if I like them, I'll upload them later and see how bad they turned out and maybe post them.

Also, I'll probably try and change the web address thing to Lily and the Glorious soon, to make things simpler. Just a heads up!

christmas tree

Photobucket
I've seen a lot of people posting their christmas trees, and since we decorated ours yesterday I thought I'd copy them. I always love my tree, I think it's just the right side of tacky. We have a lot of camel decorations because my dad likes them. Quite a lot of the decorations are pink. And we have a set of old Hollywood movie star cardboard cut-out decorations.
Okay, my tree is ridiculously tacky, but I love it!

cosy

Photobucket
sparkly blue barry m nail polish, bauble, snow, close up outfit

I have been such a hermit lately, I didn't even leave the house today & yesterday I only ventured to the co-op. Christmas is such a cosy time and I've really enjoyed spending time with my family. My brother who I hadn't seen since October has just come home, even though that might not seem that long I've missed him a lot. Tomorrow we're seeing The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and I am so excited!! We had it on tape and it was always my favourite Narnia book. Eustace Scrubb is such a legend and apparently the boy who plays him is brilliant in it, as he was in Son of Rambow , absolutely can't wait.

I promise I will get some pictures of my new purchases soon, I'm just so lazy at the moment by the time I'm "photo ready" it's already dark! I'll probably do an outfit tomorrow & the next day so you might see them then.

Winter

Lately I have been
Photobucket
1. Drinking a lot of coffee, black at home & lattes at starbucks
2. Reading The Worst Witch & pretending I'm still little
3. Drawing & painting - I know her face looks ugly and I need to rub it out asap but still quite please with how it's looking
4. My cat is just always cute.

I love winter!

cats.

Photobucket
coat - clothes show
dress - h&m
shoes - new look

You may recognise this coat from my leopard post a little while ago. In reality, this was a lot cheaper and just as nice - therefore I like it more. Now I just need the classic giant earrings to truly rock the Pat Butcher look with pride. However, I think when worn with my cat bag, the resemblance to crazy cat lady is already quite convincing.
I would have a proper outfit to share from yesterday, but I got caught in the snow on my one mile walk home from town and ended up looking like a drowned leopard/panda hybrid. It was probably the most simple outfit I've worn in a while, but I really liked it. I've been taking a lot of inspiration from Vicky's layering of necklaces and just generally trying to accessories in a more interesting way and really liking doing it. I really like combining my necklaces in different ways, makes them feel completely different.
I bought some things I've been lusting after for an age, thank you H&M sale & cat's protection charity shop (one of the only charity shops not trying to look "modern" and "trendy" by promoting it's cheap and nasty primark rejects) for helping me achieve my dreams.

Alice.

Photobucket
Lately I have had such enthusiasm for clothes. I love clothes. I love choosing them, finding hidden gems & the way nice clothes make you feel. It's amazing how the clothes you put on affect who you are as a person and how everyone else see you - that you can use the way you dress to create an entirely different persona. I'm also starting to feel a lot happier about the way I dress after being stuck in my boring rut of blandness that in no way represents who I am or who I want to be.

I discovered Alice by Temperley last week when I was looking for a designer to do a project on ( I chose Erdem in the end) but I could not forget about these pieces!! I want things embellished with tiny studs!! I want things in that perfect green!! I want leather shorts*!!! I am feeling a bit fml on the party dress front, as in I need some, can't find any & lack the desire to pay silly amounts. And also the fact that I really want dresses like this.

* I actually found the perfect pair at the clothes show, with almost the perfect fit. Hating my tummy right now :(

Colour.

Photobucket
One of my favourite things about Topshop is their colours. If they do nothing else right, at least the colour is always perfect this is why their nail polishes are so lustable, Topshop colour in a bottle. I am so hoping some of these fall into the January sales because they really are just gorgeous, but with my income at zero for at least another 10 months or so they are also presently completely unattainable. Hopefully if I have a little left over in my Christmas present budget then I can get myself one of those scalloped vests

Also, since I've neglected this feature lately here are three to follow -

The beginning of the Christmas wishlist.

Photobucket
A lot of people say they feel guilty asking for things at Christmas, and I do partially agree. I find it so awkward making a list of things which I want other people to buy for me - but wishlists are completely different. Wishlists in my mind can be as completely fantastical as you like because you are simply wishing not asking. Therefore, my wishlist is very, very large and grows each day. Especially when I browse the Liberty website, which I've been doing a lot. Egg cups are probably my favourite piece of kitchenware, they are always the most exciting. I am very partial to the rabbit, cats & badger.

Tuesday 7 December 2010

I love leopard.

Photobucket
Lazy post again, since I've only recently become a camera owner it will take me a while to get into taking a photo of everything mode - but it will happen. So regretted not having it with me this morning, there was such a thick frost for a second I though there had been a little flurry of snow (still dreaming) and it made everything a lot prettier - especially spider webs, frosted spider webs are amaaaazing.
I used to be a bit fearful of leopard print, until (and here you discover my weakness) Kat Slater returned to the square and persuaded me that leopard print is the best print. And also that it is best when covered in sequins and stretched across a heavily pregnant stomach.
At the moment I would happily take leopard print anything, I am yet to acquire anything besides my fuzzy hat (coming soon!) though, but these are my favourites. I have wanted a leopard fur coat for absolutely ages & these boots are definitely top of my after Christmas shopping spree list.

Big post soon, since I actually have to take pictures at the clothes show because my teacher told me to. :)

Liberty Love.

How pretty are these little suitcase? I think putting a Liberty print on anything just makes it at least a hundred times lovelier and nicer, browsing the website makes me seriously rethink my technology based Christmas list in favour of floral everything.

The snow is pathetic.

There is not enough to play in.
Photobucket
Cardigan - Vintage
Blouse - Primark
Skirt - H&M
Shoes - Doc Martens
There are currently teeny tiny pinpricks of white dust floating outside my window. The ground is covered (I used that term loosely) in about 1cm of it and I have to go to school in two hours. I'm hoping for some kind of freak blizzard.

I mentioned this before, but I'd quite like to start posting my favourite blogs. However, I don't want to post the same blogs everyone posts as their "favourites". I follow a lot of blogs and there are so many who I don't think get the attention and recognition they deserve, which is really unfair. I think it's easy for more popular bloggers to fall into like "cliques" who promote each other, while it's not so bad that they help each other out - I'd rather see a wide range of interesting blogs.
I'm not saying all of these blogs aren't popular, they are just my favourites and maybe don't always get to be someone's "blogger of the month" all the time.
Sorry for the ramble, don't think it made sense but I tried. Anyway, here is your first one to follow.

p.s. I'm currently reading "Enduring Love" by Ian McEwan. I only just started but it's so powerful already.

Wednesday 24 November 2010

pictures are nice.

Photobucket
1. Phoebe.
2. Sunday night.I love how the light looks here, my mum made this little postcard collage a couple of days ago. It makes sitting my the computer for hours a lot nicer.
3. Books. The first thing people say when they come into my house is "wow, you have a lot of books". I like the way they look.
4. A ring I got for my birthday & one I got at the vintage fair. And some Barry M grey nail varnish that seems so change colour depending on how cold my hands are.

I've been really into taking pictures around my house lately. I love my house so expect to see a lot of it.

A lot of people from my school protested today, which is good. Apart from the fact the majority of them neither knew or cared what they were protesting for, they just wanted to miss school, which I think is sad.

weekend catch up

I had such a nice weekend.
Photobucket
Cardigan - River Island
Dress- Vintage
Tights - Primark
Belt - My Dads
Assorted Necklaces - Assorted Places

On Friday I was at the V&A for this event, which was so interesting. My favourite talk was by Olaf Parker, the designer behind Burro, about being a fashion designer. Although I'm not sure that a fashion designer is what I ant to be, I do want to work in fashion or something to do with clothes and hearing about how he got into the industry was really inspiring.
I got this dress at Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair on Saturday, it was so so good! I got some really great things, post about that later - but make sure you check it out if it comes to somewhere near you, well worth the two pounds entry fee. :D

lots of love from lily xx

p.s. maybe a Harry Potter post later, if you're lucky :)
p.p.s haha my bed and my dress match a bit :)

Sunday 14 November 2010

Please Me.

I bought a proper lipstick.
Photobucket
MAC matte lip colour in "Please Me"
I'd had a MAC giftcard sitting in my purse since my birthday, and even though I chose this lipstick about a week after I was always too cautious to actually buy it. So, after a month and a bit unnecessary mulling over last week I bought it. The soft pinky colour is very helpful in hiding my zombie lips (usual colour - blue).

It was so weird taking a picture of my face. I've never been into self loving face pictures so obviously hated them all, apart from this one. I like the blurryness achieved by partially dropping my camera. Trippyyyy.

p.s. I made a formspring for the blog, the linky widgety thing is just above the most recent post but I'll put one here for the lazies.

Friday 12 November 2010

I'm a giver

I made my first reasonably large charity shop purchase.
Photobucket
And it's perfect. Acid wash denim & shearling for only ten pounds? Yes please. With some severely washed chewing gum, paracetamol, a couple of coins & a key thrown in for free. Thank you, pockets of a stranger.
I admit I don't browse the charity shops as much as I would like. And I'm a bit of a nervous second hand shopper, so I think outerwear a good way to phase myself in because it probably hasn't touched much naked skin before.
love lily xx

p.s. obviously the paracetamol & chewing gum went straight in the bin, don't think I'm the kind of person that eats out of the pockets of used clothes.

Monday 8 November 2010

I may be grumpy sometimes.

But all I need to cheer me up is a Toffee Nut Latte (!!!) and a piece of cake.
This month I am definitely in the mood for posting, this is my second so far & I have a couple more prepared all ready. You will also be treated to pictures from my upcoming trip to the V&A with school where I am attending a few really interesting looking talks, and you may even catch a glimpse of my Harry Potter costume. Still haven't decided who I'm going to be, though I'm leaning towards Dobby. It is quite an easy option since all I would need is some odd socks, a jumper & a few hats. Possibly a tie.
Photobucket
Top - H&M

Scarf - H&M (from a friend)
Worn to Starbucks for two hours of nice catching up and eating.

p.s. extra sorry for my angry post, I think that's why I'm posting again so quickly - to hide my nasty side.

Saturday 6 November 2010

I'm now a tea drinker.

I've not been too great lately. I feel ill and sniffy and sleepy. School is bad. Friends are bad. Everything is bad.
Photobucket
Everything Primark. Not sure how I feel about that. I have nothing (not much anyway) against Primark, but a whole outfit from one shop? I feel so bland. However, Primark consists of mounds of knock offs from other shops - so what difference does it make? I feel so awkward writing that, it sounds so angry. I'm not angry at Primark. I suppose everything is a knock off of something these days.

I wanted this top a lot after Lily of LLYMLRS wore it. I love the pinky colour and the sheerness, a the horse shoe print is so pretty. I especially like how hand drawn it looks.
And after lusting for a while, I own something velvet. Hopefully the first of many. I want something dark red, like the matching top and skirt set I had when I was little.

Sorry for being such a Negative Nelly, hopefully I will feel more inspired soon.

lily

p.s. It is my opinion that no-one "likes" tea, we just learn to accept it.

Saturday 23 October 2010

I will make it to the end of this post without falling asleep.

1. My new "inspiration" board. Looking forward to seeing that grow.*
2. Pretty birdy necklace.

*Ed Westwick doesn't really inspire me.. sometimes I just like to look at him.

I really like the colour combination, something about it just fits and is a little bit perfect. And I love my cardigan so so so much, it's lovely big chunkyness makes every outfit more interesting... and warm.
Hopefully a post in the next few days, when I have less work, I have a few pictures to share.

Sorry about the general rubbishness of the picture. I wanted to get one of the outfit, it was past midnight and my patience was wearing thin so this is the best I could come up with. I had been wanting a breton like top for a while so... I bought one. :) It's really lovely and soft and comfy, another "like pyjamas" item. And my cardigan is still the bees knees, and will remain so for some time.

p.s. I might start posting my favourite blogs soon, would you be interested? I have a lot.

Monday 4 October 2010

hi cardigan. hello books.

So apparently everyone loves camel now. Including me,obv, because I'm hip and trendy like that.
Photobucket
I spent this weekend at my Grandparent's in Essex and popped into Colchester for some shopping. I haven't been in a few years, and I was so impressed by the amount of stylish Essex girls & boys about. So much more interesting looks than your average Saturday in Cambridge where 90% of people are dressed head-to-toe in Topshop or Primark. Anyway, I found this gem of a cardigan in River Island (so much nicer than the Cambridge one!), isn't it gorgeous? So warm and the perfect amount of scratch. And the criss crossy leathery buttons are the icing on the camel cake.

Just about a month ago (I'm very slow..) I received an email from Jazz of JazzLovesYouMore telling me I'd won her giveaway. To say I was overjoyed was a bit of an understatement, I had a grin* plastered on my face for quite a while. I casually enter giveaways, never with any expectations of winning, and to win such an amazingly personal giveaway was such a nice surprise.
I only had to wait a few days and then, my prize arrived!!

The "not quite a party" birthday party.

OH HEY It's another post.
Sadly, still no style/fashion, unless you want to take inspiration from my "Casual Birthday Party Chic" look.
I actually wore jeans. Up until the day of my birthday, I owned one pair of jeans. These are my "sick day" jeans, for lounging and doing nothing. But I had been eyeing up some pale icey blue skinnies in the Topshop sale for a week or two (or three or four) and, with the help of birthday money and my brother's student discount, they are now mine! Unfortunately, there weren't any pictures showing them from my party, but I might snap a couple this weekend.
Photobucket
Oh yes, two cakes. The first was rose & vanilla (made by my friends), the second was strawberries, raspberries and cream (made by my mummy). Mmm.

My room.

My room is in the process of being "transformed". It's almost there, a couple of weeks ago I got all my things and chucked them up on nice new shelves. I have a whole shelf of just Harry Potter themed books (and a few bits and bobs)! To me that screams true geek.
I also made myself some wonky curtains from gorgeous Cath Kidston fabric, they are terribly uneven but I love the way they look.
Photobucket
Sorry for all the unfashion/style things happening here at the moment, I'm afraid there's a few more to come and then maybe an outfit this weekend. It's amazing to watch my followers grow. Thank you so much!

Last day of being 14.

Photobucket
Fifteen sounds a lot older than the little "one-four", I feel like I should be older. Maybe tomorrow will bring a dramatic change and I will start feeling a lot more grown up? I'm not even sure if I want that.
I'm actually feeling so happy at the moment. I love my life, my friends and I'm hoping not much changes.
Last night I enjoyed doing my history homework. I enjoyed my homework. That's maturity right there.

love all of you,

I like Autumn.

Photobucket
I like making polyvores when the mood takes me.
I'm feeling very inspired by autumn at the moment, I can't pass a woolly hat without trying it on & I am aching to get my scarves and cosy mittens out of storage. I'm actually wishing for colder days, I love hot and cold but can't stand the in-the-middley bit.
It's my birthday on Friday, and no matter how old I get I will always love my birthday. I happen to have a day off school so I'm having a few friends over, I never really wanted a big party - just to spend time with the people I love. I'm the kind of person who would rather have a few close friends than a big crowd of people & I'm happy to say I truly love everyone of my friends.
Also, I'm getting a proper camera!! Not a big huge fancy one, but I'm in love! Anything is better than my current one, which I estimate is about eight years old and could hardly be described as "top quality" even then. I can't wait to take nice pictures.

More updates soon, sorry if I haven't been commenting back! I'm such a complete ditz when it comes to remembering important things like that, but I do always have a peek at your blogs even if I don't have time to comment.

Wednesday 15 September 2010

holiday oh a holiday

I'm so unorganised. Apparently that's not a word.
Has anyone else just hit year 10 and been overwhelmed completely by the workload? And next week I have a GCSE assessment!! Already!!
I loved every comment I received on my last post, they were so inspiring and amazing. You all made me feel a lot better, thank you so much.
The annoying thing about the artwork I'm doing at the moment is I was so proud of it. I considered it to be the best work I've ever done, but my teacher can't find a single good thing to say about it. Not a terribly good confidence boost.

I thought I should finally show you some pictures from my trip to Rome, but since this is my attitude to family holiday snaps -
Photobucket
I struggled to find any. At least in this one you can see a bit of our apartment, which was gorgeous.
Photobucket
I think the body language in that first picture by the fountain is priceless, but at least the fountain looks nice!
And my mum's gorgeous Topshop blouse, famous amongst bloggers - I want it. I think it's time for wardrobe borrowing.
Photobucket
This is me and my brother in the beautiful English tearooms next to the Spanish steps, it was so lovely but a lot on the pricey side so we all just had ice tea. Which was delicious! You mixed it up yourself with liquid sugar and lemon, I loved it. And everything had little cats on, you can just see one on the napkin, it was so pretty.

Sorry if that was a bit too "family holiday", I wanted to post but had nothing exciting to show you. I needed some way to escape my history homework though.

p.s. I have some lovely things to show you, I just need to get my camera out.

Monday 6 September 2010

I'm too hungry to think of a title.

I haven't posted in ages. School is nasty.
This is my first full week back (I had Friday last week) and I actually can't believe I'm expected to wake up and be out of the house before 8:15ish again tomorrow. And with my new lessons, my days are so long! I start at most days 8:30 and don't get to go home until 3:40 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. At least on Wednesday and Thursday I have late starts, but Mondays & Tuesdays will be my downfall. I can just tell.
Photobucket

I wore this to go shopping with my brother on Saturday, all I bought was Topshop under-eye brightener, because I am definitely needing it at the moment. Sleepy Lily!!
Taking these photos was such a chore, I tried three locations around and outside my house before I settled by the back door because it had the most light & least rain, but these pictures are still too dark and not great.

I've just started my Art & Design course, and I am so nervous. Basically everyone in the class is so much more talented than me, and the work of previous students is just so amazing! It's all so beautiful and creative, I have no idea how I'm going to live up to it, especially as my nice Art teacher moved to Switzerland and the new one is very critical and says "groovy" a lot. Hmm.

I might be able to fit in another post later this week, probably with more moaning about school. Sorry!

Saturday 28 August 2010

are you hurting the one you love?

Sorry for the lack of posts, gang.
Do you want a list of excuses? I have one.
- I went to London for a couple of days and forgot my camera.
- It rained a lot. I got wet. Outfit pictures aint so pretty when the main focus is a girl resembling a drowned rat (me!)
- I discovered a love of leggings and big jumpers/shirts. Oops.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder? I hope so.

So Topshop added some more stuff to their sale and, as you may know, I am weak. So I came away with this playsuit that is so comfy it feels like jammies and a silky lacey underskirty thing to peek out of my dresses.
Photobucket
Check out my new bed. It's goodbye futon living, my love affair with my bedroom floor is OVER. I love my bed!!! :)
Playsuit - Topshop

At the moment we have a hundred (not very dramatic) temperature changes a day so I gave up dressing for Autumn and put my tights away! I think it's my northern roots, but I don't notice the cold much. If I think about it, I realise I'm freezing and that I can't feel my toes - but it doesn't really bother me.

I'm actually really tired right now, I had an early start at eight o'clock this morning and I can't remember things I thought of to write five minutes ago. Silly Lily.

I'll stop boring you now.

lots and lots and lots of love

p.s. the title is one of my favourite florence + the machine songs, I'm not sure how well known it is because I think it's a B side but it's really good!!

honey I'm home.

I'm not even going to apologise for the tackyness of the title, I resisted putting it as my facebook status but if I can't show my love for tacky lines here then where can I?
I got back from Rome on Tuesday and since then I have just been catching up on blogs and watching America's Next Top Model. The thrills.
Rome was, as some of you may know, absolutely breathtaking. The second I entered the city my jaw literally dropped, it was so beautiful. I can't even describe it, but everything was amazing. I'll probably do a post about it in a day or so, once I've looked through the holiday pictures and found some acceptable ones to post. At the moment the English weather is really not making me want to sort through pictures of myself basking in the sunshine and just general lush weather. I'm not bitter about it or anything, though.
Ooh, "Rome" by Yeasayer just came on spotify, isn't that funny. :)

These pictures are from yesterday, when I felt so adventurous that I trekked down to the practically abandoned end of my garden for some more exciting pictures. I've posted this dress before in a similar way but I was in a gloomy mood so I just wanted to wear an old favourite.  And I love the colour of the dress with the colour of the cardigan. I actually love it.

These pictures are alright, yes? I would feel proud to put them on lookbook, I think. If I had a lookbook.
Dress - Topshop
Cardigan - H&M
Belt - Charity Shop
Socks - My dad's Tintin ones ( he has many )
Shoes - Primark

In case you wanted a view of the socks in all their glory.

A little round up of my first proper "shoot". Where my "tripod" was a bench and an old plank of wood.

p.s. I decided to change the blog name. I'm much happier with it now. Glorious.

When in Rome.

Who knew scheduled posts were a lot harder to write than normal ones?
Photobucket
Dress - H&M
Teapot necklace - Topshop
Big stone ring - gift

I decided that although I used to go weeks without posting, to leave you all alone for five days would be cruel. So while I'm enjoying Rome, you  can enjoy a few little pictures. I'm really happy with these pictures, they actually don't make me squirm when I look at them. They make me smile. :)
If you ignore my baby knees. Which I do. They look like baby faces. Little baby demons.
Maybe it's because I'm so in love with this dress? A lot of bloggers have it in the black and white striped print, but this floral was just too pretty. I might buy the other one as well, that's how good it makes me feel. And for such a self esteem boost, it wasn't too pricey either.
I used to save up all my money to buy one piece from Topshop, usually a pretty dress, and then find I had nothing to wear apart from three or four pretty dresses. Lately I've been buying more versatile pieces, things that work together and now I find it so much easier to find outfits I like. Neutrals and muted tones as well as gorgeous bright coloured patterns have really helped bring my wardrobe together. Basics are my best friends right now.

Well I might as well use this time wisely by asking a few things of you.

I love my followers, I love that I have followers and I love that the amount of followers I have grows. But I feel as if I don't know any of you! I really would like to know you all better so, if you would like to, leave a comment telling me about yourself or send me a quick email! I love getting them!

And another little thing, I'm not really happy with my blog name. It doesn't feel right to me. Maybe because it's taken from a song, it doesn't feel like my own. I was considering changing it to "Lily and the Glorious". I like how it sounds, it's more personal and I love the word glorious. What do you think?

Sorry for the loooooong post and I hope you are all having lovely summers (or winters)!

I thought you should know.

Yesterday I went shopping. Again. I'm such a cliché.
Photobucket
Skirt - Zara
Tee - H&M
Jacket - My Daddy's
Belt - Charity Shop
Hairband - H&M

I realise I need to take better pictures that aren't squashed into my room, but as these were taken at about midnight there weren't many other options.
At the moment I'm liking salads & grey. Salads because they are so fun to make! You just throw whatever you want in and it's yummy, easy delicious food. And grey, a colour I loved, then hated & now appreciate. Relaxed yet not too boring. My new favourite.

Velo.

Why can't British summer holidays start when it's actually hot?
They always miss the heat, so we're sweating in school but by the time we get let out... rain & clouds.
Ok, I'm complaining. It wasn't even that cold today. But still, it wasn't hot.
Photobucket
I thought these pictures came out okay when I took them, but my unphotogenicness proved me wrong. Oh Well.
Photobucket
Top; Zara
Cardigan; H&M
Skirt; American Apparel
Belt; Charity Shop
And the same sandals as before.
Isn't this top so pretty? I got it in the Zara sale, it made it through my selection process ( I had a pile of about ten things and I could only afford two ) because I just adore the print! Little bicycles!

I'm off camping for a couple of nights tomorrow, if the regular posting bug still has me next week expect a few more outfits and things. :)

p.s. Hello new followers! I'm trying to have a look at all your blogs, it may take me a little while to get round to it but I will try!

festive summer.

Sorry for the lack of posting! After Latitude I have been spending all my time catching up on blogs - I'm almost done but it has taken hours. Latitude was amazing, the best year yet (my fourth) and so much fun. I had such a good time even when I got separated from my friends (a lot, contact is hard) and was dancing like a maniac by myself. If you were there and saw a girl going crazy by herself at Yeasayer, Florence + the Machine or Vampire Weekend - it was me!! One of the nicest moments was when I couldn't make it to The Horrors because I was so hungry and I went and sat by myself having a pizza and listening to a children's bed time story outside the literary tent. Oh, and the doughnuts. They were good. And the margaritas I had with my mum on Saturday morning! What a buzz!
So next year, you all HAVE to go!
Photobucket
Cardi - H&M,    Skirt - Topshop (SALE £7!!),     Top - Topshop,     Belt - Charity Shop
I wore this today to go for a frappe/smoothie (we swappped a bit) and cake with Alice at the Black Cat Cafe. So yummy.
Photobucket
These are my £6 New Look sandals, looking a bit worse for wear after a few days and nights in feilds (as are my feet) but holding up well!

Oh and that, that is my fancy tripod. Jealous, aintcha!

heat of the moment

I'm really loving doing regular posts. I think I mentioned all this before, but getting such nice feedback & seeing how many followers I've gained is so rewarding. You are all so sweet, and I do try and comment back as much as I can but it does get confusing.

I spent yesterday with my lovely friend Alice, we went shopping (again) and then ate popcorn and lemon sorbet (yummyyummyyummy) while watching Cracks. It was a really good film, so well done & beautiful styling but... it was disturbing. Definitely not what we were expecting. I won't spoil it for you though, you have to watch it for yourselves.

Tee - Topman, Skirt - H&M, Belt - Charity Shop, Sandals - M&S, Bag - Vintage (mummy's)
I had my outfit (an a back-up oufit) planned for yesterday, but in the end it was so hot I just had to throw on a comfy t-shirt instead. In the end I was really happy with it, I had one of the days when you catch a glimpse of your reflection and think "hey, I don't look too awful" which was nice.
I bought this t-shirt in the Topman sale and I loooove it, so perfect and it reminds me of Harry Potter which I like.
I have been desperately wanting some brown sandals recently (this would have looked better with brown sandals, the little shopping demon in my mind tells me), and I found the perfect pair in H&M but they didn't have my size. A five and a seven... but no six? So cruel.

I probably won't have time for a post until after Latitude (next weekend) but hopefully I will have lots of amazing pictures to share with you!

I love your delicate way.

Hello there sweethearts, I've been putting off posting a bit because I've just been far to lazy to get the old camera out and go pose crazy. But I needed to show you my favourite sales purchase!
Photobucket
AREN'T THEY GORGEOUS!
These babies were costly though, at £25 they can hardly be called a bargain. Even out of a sale that is quite pricey for me and I would never have thought of buying them. Until I needed something to try on a top with... And then I decided I needed them.
I have worn them like 10 times already though, so it was worth it.
Besides, look at the lovely roses! So pretty!
Photobucket
shirt - H&M, shorts - Topshop, belt - my daddy's, horsie necklace - gift from Alice (Accessorize)

love from lily xx

P.S. Hopefully soon I will feel energised enough to throw on last night's "party" outfit and take some pictures, I wasn't really in a fit state to work a camera when I got home.

Flora

 Helloooooo!
I am finally really getting into regular posting, my blog has become a major part of my life now and I just want to make it better and better. Thank you for all your comments, they are so encouraging and lovely!
Photobucket
Dress - H&M (stolen/given to by a friend), Shirt - Topman (stolen from my brother), Shoes - Primark, Socks - made from an old pair of tights, Bow Headband - Accessorize, Bird Necklace - Accessorize, Assorted Rings - Toshop, H&M, Miss Selfridge.
This is what I wore yesterday to go shopping with Alice. I did some quite intense shopping and now have absolutely no money what so ever, but I do have lots of nice clothes and...
Photobucket
I bought a perfume! Incase you can't see in the picture, it's Flora by Gucci. It smells so pretty and I'm so proud of it, it's my first ever real perfume unless you count my Britney one I had in year seven. And yes, it was expensive, but I used my £20 Boots gift card I had saved from my birthday (six months ago) until I could find a perfume I liked. That's how long I've been on the hunt! It lasts so long as well, I put some on yesterday in the shop and I can still smell it. Mmmm.
I'm going to save my new purchases for other outfit pictures, because I will be definitely wearing them soon.

love

Lily.
